How to Replace Magnetic Particle for Magnetic Particle Brake/Clutch

What is Magnetic Particle Brake/Clutch

The magnetic particle brake/clutch is a kind of automatic control element with multi-purpose and superior performance. It is widely used in papermaking, printing, plastics, rubber, textile, printing and dyeing, wire and cable, metallurgy, tablet press, and other related coiling and processing industries for unwinding and winding tension control.

Magnetic particle brakes are also often used for dynamometric loading and braking of transmission machinery. Magnetic particle brakes and magnetic particle clutches are often used in pairs, and the magnetic powder tension controller is used to adjust the excitation current of the magnetic particle clutch/brake to achieve the purpose of tension control.

How to Replace Magnetic Particle for Magnetic Particle Clutch/Brake

Why need to replace magnetic particles?

Magnetic particle brakes mainly rely on magnetic particles to transmit torque, and their service life is directly related to the use of magnetic particles.

The magnetic particle is consumable, so its service life directly affects the operation and performance of the entire magnetic particle brake, including the subsequent production work.

The service life of the magnetic particle is directly affected by the operating time, load, temperature (not more than 90 degrees Celsius), and frequency of the magnetic particle brake. Since the interior of the magnetic particle brake is relatively tightly sealed, once it is running, the inside and the surface will produce temperature. The longer the operation time, the higher the temperature inside and on the surface of the magnetic particle brake. In addition, if the load is heavier, more torque is required. The higher the operating frequency, the faster the magnetic particle consumption.

7 steps to replace the magnetic particles

The method of replacing the magnetic particles is as follows:

  • Put the magnetic particle clutch on the prepared rack (up and down), with the input shaft facing down and the output shaft facing up, pay attention to handling and place it stably;
  • Use a wrench to loosen and remove the aluminum cover fixing bolts at the end of the bolt output shaft.
  • After removing the aluminum cover, loosen the bolts of the stator and take out the stator;
  • After taking out the stator, clean the remaining magnetic particle inside, and then clean the inner wall with a clean rag;
  • After cleaning, please seal the prepared magnetic particle according to the specifications (unit: g);
  • After adding the magnetic particle, please fix the stator, stator bolts, aluminum cover, aluminum cover bolts, etc. according to the original position. This step is very important if carelessness can lead to magnetic particle leakage.
  • After sealing and tightening the magnetic particle, please test the magnetic particle clutch, and put it into use if there is no abnormality.
