Difference 1#: Working Principle

Electromagnetic Clutch

Electromagnetic Clutch
Electromagnetic Clutch

The electromagnetic clutch controls the engagement and disengagement of the clutch by the on and off of the coil. Electromagnetic clutches can be divided into a dry single-plate electromagnetic clutch, dry multi-plate electromagnetic clutch, wet multi-plate electromagnetic clutch, magnetic powder clutch, slip electromagnetic clutch, etc. The working mode of the electromagnetic clutch can be divided into a power-on combination and a power-off combination.

Magnetic Particle Clutch

Magnetic particle clutch, also known as electromagnetic powder clutch and magnetic particle clutch, is based on the electromagnetic principle and uses magnetic particles to transmit torque. It has a linear relationship between excitation current and transmission torque and can transmit a certain torque regardless of slip. It has the advantages of fast response speed, simple structure, no pollution, no noise, no shock and vibration, energy saving, etc. It is a multi-purpose and superior automatic control element.

Difference 2#: Operating Characteristics

4 advantages of the electromagnetic clutch

  1. High-speed response: Because it is a dry type, the transmission of torque is fast, and convenient movements can be achieved.
  2. Strong durability: With good heat dissipation, and the use of advanced materials, it is very durable even for high frequency and high energy use.
  3. Easy assembly and maintenance: It belongs to the static shape of the magnetic field coil built into the ball bearing, so there is no need to take out the center core or use a carbon brush, and it is easy to use.
  4. The action is sure: the use of plate shrapnel will not loosen even if there is a strong vibration, and the durability is good.

3 Advantages of Magnetic Particle Clutch

  1. During the clutch engagement process, it is easy to achieve a smooth increase in torque, so the clutch has a good engagement and smooth performance.
  2. Magnetic particle clutch can work for a long time.
  3. There is no need to adjust during use.

Two Types of electromagnetic clutches

There are two types of electromagnetic clutches: fixed coil type and rotating coil type. The former electromagnetic coil is fixed on the compressor casing and does not rotate, and the latter electromagnetic coil is connected to the tape reel to rotate.

Fixed coil clutch

The electromagnetic coil is installed on the end cover of the compressor and does not rotate. The rotor is held on the electromagnetic coil by bearings and circlips, and the outside of the rotor is the tape reel. The armature (clutch plate) is installed at the end of the compressor crankshaft. The fixed coil electromagnetic clutch is mainly composed of a pulley, an electromagnetic coil, a pressure plate, and a hub assembly. One end of the electromagnetic coil is grounded, and the other end is connected to the power supply through an air conditioner relay. When the air conditioner switch is turned on, the air-conditioning relay is turned on, the electromagnetic coil of the compressor is energized, and a strong magnetic field is generated, which makes the electromagnetic clutch-driven plate of the compressor and the freely rotating pulley pull together, thereby driving the compressor shaft to rotate. , the refrigeration system works. When the air conditioner relay is powered off, the current of the electromagnetic clutch coil is cut off, and the magnetic field disappears. At this time, the driven disc and the pulley are separated by the spring action, so that the compressor stops working.

Rotary Coil Clutch

It works on the same principle as a fixed coil clutch, but with a different solenoid location. In the rotating coil structure, the electromagnetic coil is a part of the rotor and rotates with the rotor, and the current flows into the electromagnetic coil through the brushes mounted on the compressor to establish a magnetic field. The magnetic field makes the armature contact the rotor, and the rotation of the entire electromagnetic clutch device composed of the armature, the rotor and the coil drives the rotation of the compressor.
The two types of electromagnetic clutches have several collecting grooves on the armature and the rotor, so as to facilitate the gathering of the magnetic field and increase the attractive force of the two.

  1. During the clutch engagement process, it is easy to achieve a smooth increase in torque, so the clutch has a good engagement and smooth performance.
  2. It can work for a long time.
  3. There is no need to adjust during use.
